Superposition Lab

Privacy notice

Updated September 29, 2026

Superposition Lab is a portal for contributing recordings, reviewing data quality, and tracking contractor payments. For privacy questions, contact support@superposition.ai.

Information we process

Google sign-in provides your Google account identifier, name, and verified email address. We request only OpenID, email, and profile permissions. We do not request access to Gmail or Google Drive. The portal uses cookies for the sign-in flow and your authenticated session.

When you submit work, we store the recording, keyboard and mouse event timeline, recorder metadata, and optional captions you upload. A recording may include microphone audio if you enabled it. Use a dedicated game capture scene and do not submit passwords, private conversations, or personal information unrelated to your task.

The Superposition Lab desktop recorder records only between the moment you press Start and the moment you stop a task. It records your screen, keyboard and mouse, your microphone (and, if your project asks, your computer's sound), the windows and apps you use, the address and title of the web pages you open, and any files you attach as the task's result. Apps you exclude in the recorder are not recorded. You review each recording on your computer before it is uploaded, and you can discard it instead.

The Superposition Lab recorder browser extension works only with the desktop recorder and only while it is recording a task. It then records what you do in web pages (clicks, key presses, form input, scrolling and form submissions, with the page element each one touched) and a copy of each page's content. It never records what you type into a password field, only its length, and records nothing in a browser you excluded. The extension sends what it records only to the desktop recorder on your computer, which uploads it with the rest of the recording to the project you joined. It is not sold or used for advertising.

We also store project instructions, contractor recruitment source, agreed payment terms, payment destination references, review scores and notes, payment status and external transaction references, and an audit history. The portal does not collect bank passwords or perform money transfers. External payment providers operate under their own terms and privacy notices.

Joining through a screened invitation

Some invitation links start a short screening before paid work. When you join through one, we store your Google account details as described above, your answers to the project's yes or no screening questions, and the username or email address you give for the invitation's payment method. For Wise we ask only for an email address or Wisetag, never bank details.

Screening may ask for a short, unpaid work sample, which is processed like other uploads. For gameplay recording projects this is a test clip, including a transcript of your microphone audio. An automated model (Google Gemini on Vertex AI, in our Google Cloud project) reads outputs of work samples, such as a test clip's transcript, to check them against the project's criteria. Our staff can see its decision and change it. Work samples are used only for screening, are not included in datasets, and are stored like other uploads.

We email you the result of screening. Approval emails are copied to our team so we can set up your payment. If you join a project's Discord channel, we store your Discord user ID and username. We use your Discord authorization once, to add you to the channel, and do not keep it.

How information is used

Account information supports authentication and project access. Uploaded files support processing, quality evaluation and review. Any subsequent dataset delivery or model-training use must be described in your project agreement. Confirm the permitted uses and intended recipients with your coordinator before contributing. This notice does not grant additional rights to use a recording.

Review and payment information helps us evaluate submissions, communicate results, and reconcile payments made outside this portal. Audit records support accountability and troubleshooting.

Access and service providers

Contributors can access their own work. Authorized reviewers and administrators can access submissions and the project, review, payment and audit information needed to operate the portal. Application data and uploaded files are hosted on Google Cloud. Google also processes sign-in. Before signing in through an invitation, the invitation page runs a Google reCAPTCHA check against automated sign-ups, which processes technical information about your browser and your interaction with the check under Google's privacy policy and terms of service. Emails are sent through Resend. Project channels are on Discord, which operates under its own terms and privacy notice. Operational infrastructure records access and error logs.

Uploaded files are stored privately. Authenticated users with permission receive temporary links for playback or download. Do not share those links with anyone who should not have access. Any downstream delivery of recordings must follow the relevant project agreement.

Retention and requests

Uploaded recordings are not automatically deleted. Retention and any downstream use depend on your project agreement and the operator's handling of the data. Account, review, payment and audit records are retained to operate the service and maintain its history. Database backups may retain earlier copies; audit records cannot be edited through the application.

Contact support@superposition.ai to ask about access, correction, deletion or the retention arrangements for your project. We may need to verify your identity and consider applicable agreements, recordkeeping requirements and backups when handling a request. Please confirm any specific retention requirements before you upload.

Changes

The date above identifies the current notice. Project-specific data rights and payment terms remain governed by your agreement with the project operator.
